FDIC Insurance

One of our competitive advantages is safety. Funds deposited with Winona National are safe because the bank is strong and because we offer deposit insurance. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insures most deposits at Winona National (except Trust Department assets and Repo/Sweep accounts).

FDIC Insurance Features

  • $100,000 of insurance per person, per ownership type (not per account)
  • Deposits maintained in separate categories of legal ownership are separately insured ($100,000 each). Thus, each person receives $100,000 of FDIC insurance for each ownership type.
    • Ownership categories include:
    • Single ownership
    • Joint ownership
    • Business accounts
    • Testamentary accounts (or payable on death or Totten trusts)
    • Revocable living trusts (only if certain requirements are met--see *FDIC brochure for more information)
    • Irrevocable trusts
    • Retirement accounts

*The FDIC brochure can be obtained at any Winona National Bank location. Or, you can access FDIC insurance coverage information by going to their web site www.fdic.gov.
