What does BillPayer allow me to do?
BillPayer allows you to pay almost anyone in the United States from your computer. You don’t have to mess with stamps or remembering to mail your bills because you set the dates the bills are paid.
Is the Internet safe and secure for online banking?
We reviewed many home banking options, and security was our top priority. Some of the security measures include:
- Encryption - makes it extremely difficult for others to view your information.
- Password Protection - you can change your ID and password at any time. You contol your access. To prevent ID and password guessing, your bank@home account is disabled after three consecutive invalid log in attempts.
- Design - the network architecture is designed to stop unauthorized users.
- Monitoring - bank@home is regularly monitored for suspicious activity.
- Account Numbers - are not on the Internet. bank@home uses descriptions rather than the actual account numbers.
- Employees - every Winona National employee is trained in maintaining client confidentiality. All employees sign a confidentiality policy agreeing to maintain customer information in the strictest of confidence.
- Choice - if you still feel uncomfortable about Internet Banking, you needn't worry about your information becoming accessible via the Internet. If your accounts are not set up for bank@home, it is impossible for anyone to gain access to your accounts via the Internet. It's always your choice.
What can I do to protect my accounts and personal information while I'm banking online?
Protect your ID and password.
- Your Internet Banking ID and password authenticates you when you begin an Internet banking session. You should memorize this password, and never write it anywhere or reveal it to anyone.
- Change your password regularly. It's important to change your password regularly, which you can easily do when you are in an Internet banking session.
- Remember to sign off. You may not always be at your own computer when you bank online. Therefore, it's important to sign off when you're finished banking. If you forget to do so, you are automatically signed off after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Can anyone else see my account information?
No. Your Internet Banking account information is available only through access methods which have been rigorously tested for their secure access. The information is not public. Only you can access it using your ID and password. Treat your Internet Banking ID and password as you treat your ATM and credit card PINs.
Do NOT tell your password to anyone unless you want them to have access to your accounts.
Do NOT write your password down. Memorize it!
Why can I only use certain browsers for Internet Banking?
Browsers that meet our security standards are necessary for online banking. The approved browsers are:
- Nescape Navigator 3.0 or above with 128-bit encryption
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or above with 128-bit encryption
What if my computer crashes or the network goes down?
If your computer is unavailable, InfoLine telephone banking gives you many of the same features and capabilities. Just dial 454-9202 from your telephone to access InfoLine.
What if the bank@home Internet Banking system goes down on the Internet? Will my transactions be completed?
If the bank@home system and all of our back-up systems were to go down, any transaction for which you have received a confirmation number will be completed.
