On March 15, five Winona businesses held the 7th Annual Easter Event at the Winona Mall. Bloedow Bakery, Midtown Foods, Pieces of the Past, Todd Hoffman Design, and Winona National Bank sponsored the Easter Event that included games, crafts, and pictures with the Easter Bunny. Participants at the event were given three free tickets for the activities and could also purchase additional tickets. With more than 500 children attending, tickets sales raised $250.00, which was donated to Big Brother Big Sister of Greater Winona.
Volunteering is fun! Being a "Big Brother" or "Big Sister" is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable things you will ever do. It's simple, too. You and your "Little" can share the kinds of activities you already like to do, such as, shooting hoops, playing a board game, going on a hike, enjoying a pizza. The activities don’t have to cost a lot. It’s not about spending money; it’s about spending time. Just a few hours a couple times a month. "Littles" come to the BBBS program for all kinds of reasons. Maybe they come from single parent homes or have two working parents, maybe they are falling into bad patterns at school, maybe they are the only boy in a house with three sisters. What they all share in common is the need for friendship with a caring adult. Each child needs a positive role model to impact his life, and that role model can be you.

Thank you to all who attended the event and made this donation possible from Bloedow Bakery, Midtown Foods, Pieces of the Past, Todd Hoffman Design, and Winona National Bank.
