Winona National Bank is pleased to announce that Ellen L. Smith and David L. Vaselaar have recently taken on new and expanded responsibilities.

Ms. Smith has been appointed by the Board of Directors to lead the Retail Banking team and Mortgage Origination function in addition to leading the Brokerage and Private Banking teams.  She brings a significant experience base to her new responsibilities.  Ellen joined the bank in October of 2004, following a very successful career at State Bank of La Crosse where she led the retail, mortgage origination, brokerage and private banking groups.  “Ellen's leadership will energize her teams to higher levels of performance and service,” stated Jack Richter, Winona National Bank President and CEO.

Mr. Vaselaar has been appointed Chief Credit Officer at a recent board meeting.  This appointment is in addition to his current responsibilities for the Business Banking team as Senior Vice President of Business Banking.  Dave now has overall responsibility for the bank's credit functions including policies and procedures.  Dave brings a wealth of experience and training to this position.  Prior to joining Winona National Bank in December of 2004, he was President of the Windom, Minnesota area for Community First National Bank prior to it's acquisition by Bank of the West.  Under Dave's leadership, Windom was a consistent top performer in its region.  “Dave's leadership will strengthen our credit process and grow our credit portfolios,” says Jack Richter, Winona National Bank President and CEO.

Both Ellen and Dave are active in the Winona Community.  Ellen is a board member of the Winona Health Foundation, Great River Shakespeare Festival, Winona County Historical Society, Winona Area United Way, and Director of the Winona YMCA Board.  Dave serves on the boards of Project FINE, the Chamber Economic Committee, and is the Chairman of the Winona Area Catholic Schools Golf Tournament.
